Tooltips

Tooltips can be placed with any link on your website. When a visitor mouses over the link, a tooltip balloon appears. The balloon disappears when the visitor's mouse moves away from the link. The balloon displays a thumbnail of the website the hyperlink leads to.

When placing tooltips, keep in mind that using too many can annoy visitors. Instead, use them as they are intended: to display previews of websites with a worthwhile layout. Placing a tooltip with a link to Yahoo for example would not be a very good idea. But a tooltip with a link to the Disney site would work well.

To create your tooltips, place this piece of code somewhere in the head of your website (between the <head> tags of your HTML code):

And place this code after the <a> tag of each link you want a tooltip to appear for:

For example, a link that looks like:

will become:

which will make it look like:

Yahoo
